If you came to Zumba Houston website by mistake and don’t know what Zumba is about, please read below:
Zumba is essentially a dance program coupled with fitness. It is said that it is “Exercise in Disguise.” Usually, fitness activities involve pain, and they are ill perceived by most people, some of whom cannot go past the initial first stage associated with any fitness program since it involves some pain, and some of whom cannot keep on their training activities because they are not enjoyable. Zumba takes the pain away from the fitness program that is coupled with it, by making the experience fun and enjoyable. A Zumba class is more a party than a training class, yet, the health advantages received from a Zumba class outrank those from a normal aerobics class, and this without even considering the positive and mental process associated with engaging in the party.
Zumba was initially created by dancer and choregrapher Alberto Perez in Colombia during the 1990s, somehow by mistake, when once, having forgotten his initial tapes used for aerobic classes, he replaced them with lating music tapes, and gave his course with new and original moves. This was the beginning. It is said that Zumba choregraphy incorporates hip-hop, salsa, merengua, manbo and samba moves, along with belly dance moves, and some fitness squats and lunges.
A typical Zumba class burns between 500 and 1000 calories.
Zumba exercises have been grouped under different types of classes targeting different age levels and physical conditions to allow any person of any age and from whatever condition to take Zumba classes. One class has even be adapted to be taken in the swimming pool.
The following dance styles have been incorporated into the Zumba classes and trainings: Cumbia, Salsa, Merengue, Flamenco, Reggateon, Samba, Soca, Hip Hop, Belly Dancing, Tango, Mambo and Cha Cha Cha. Music with fast and slow rythms from the above have been mixed together to allow a consistent resistance training for figtness and losing weight incorporated into each training session.
Different Zumba Video Games have been crated for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii platforms. These will be discussed in another post. Also, resources abound for videos and DVDs that allow anyone to take a Zumba Class in his or her living room. We will also be discussing and reviewing these in a future Zumba Houston website post.

Zumba Classes in Houston ZUMBA GOLD® – barefoot or indoor-only shoes
Zumba Gold targets baby boomers. It improves the Zumba Fitness Formula to accommodate the needs of the participants who need less impact, while they begin their journey into a healthy lifestyle.
Still, those who want the normal Zumba intensity are invited to modify their moves during the class to the level they want.
In the end, all the Zumba Fitness Party Elements are present, like the music mix of salsa, merengue, reggateon, cumbia and samba, in addition to the exhilarating party atmosphere and easy and fun to follow moves. The Zumba Gold Class is perfect for those looking for fun and excitement in a fitness class, with lots of friendship atmosphere.
Zumba Gold is part of the NiaMoves’ Class Passes.
Zumba Classes in Houston Z-BELLYBOLLI – barefoot or indoor-only shoes
This is a more advanced class, tailored to those looking to get rid of all the extra pounds. It incorporates an arm and ab-work done in a fun style with Instructor and Choreographer Karen Hatch. Shakira music and Latin radio and Bollywood movies contribute to make the atmosphere booming.
The Z-BellyBolli is appropriate for any level of fitness and any age. Its objective is to improve flexibility, poise, and endurance, and to boost confidence and sex appeal. It’s really exotic and different from other dull gym classes.
NiaMoves Class Pass doesn’t apply to Z-BellyBolli. This class is kind of independent and managed directly by Karen Hatch that you can contact at 832-795-4922 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

I feel so lucky to have come across Studio NiaMoves. I just finished my new client pass (two weeks free!), and I’ve already decided that NiaMoves will be one of my “home studios,” even though it’s not a dance academy.
Over the last two weeks, I’ve taken 14 classes including Nia, yoga, Pilates, and Zumba (Karen defines her class as Z Belly Bolly). My instructors have been Kristie, Yvonne, Karen, Kym, Claudia, Cay, Sharon, Kay, Elisabeth, and Jody. I loved all of my classes. Every class included modifications depending on skill and flexibility, so everyone could always participate. In my opinion, if you don’t feel like you got a good work-out, you didn’t push yourself enough.
I love how grounded the studio is. It’s about each individual being “his/her best” instead of people trying to be “the best.” It’s a safe space, and I’m so comfortable there! Everyone is welcome, no matter what your age, shape, size, or skill level.
It is a barefoot studio (or indoor-only dance shoes) with a sprung wood floor, so be prepared to kick off your shoes. Yes, even for Zumba! If you’re looking for a studio with a variety of classes, a great environment, good pricing, welcoming instructors, and a good sweaty work-out, look no further.
I’ve been working out in my apartment gym pretty steady for about a year now. However, in the last month I really hit a wall and got so bored with stationary bike. I signed up for 4 Zumba Classes in Houston at NiaMoves for 40 dollars. I really enjoyed it. It was low-impact, though so I think it’s good to mix it up with more intense aerobics depending on your fitness goals. Since I’m a beginner I was worried I wouldn’t catch on, but the instructors were very friendly and good teachers.
I would recommend trying it out for anyone looking for variety.

I was sweating bullets!
Great work out, wish it was CHEAPER thought!
Parking is not so good either.
The owner is extremely rude and not very customer service oriented. He’ll probably be out of business before long.
Loooooove this place!! Wow they sure do know how to work you up, well in a good way! I bought a groupon that made the classes cheaper then dirt, and its down the street from work! Doesn’t get much better than that! At first I was a bit lost, some instructors are very hard to follow. Keep in mind that I only go once or twice a week, so I am by no means can memorize a choreographed song. And then, I finally took a class taught by Angel. He is AMAZING!! Great energy, easy to follow along, works all kinds of muscles I had no idea even had, and the music – he picks the most upbeat, modern, old school, fun fun FUN songs!! I HIGHLY recommend taking a class with him, I actually don’t even go to other classes unless they’re taught by him!
